How To Build A Website To Sell Stuff Online

Are you wanting to know how you can build a website to sell stuff online? If you are reading this blog post you probably are. In this blog post I am going to give you an overview of how you can build a website to sell stuff online and where you can learn the skills to make money online.

1. The first thing you need is to figure out what your site will be about. If you plan on making money from this site I would pick a topic that you are knowledgeable about. Doing it this way you won't have a hard time coming up with topics to write about. Another thing you can do to is outsource your writing. I would only do tis if you have money to spend.

2. Picking a domain name. Pick a domain name that people can remember. If you pick a domain name that is long it might be hard for people to remember. I would also pick a short domain name so you could brand yourself. If you brand yourself and people know who you are then they will come to your site for information. I would pick branding yourself over just picking a domain that has keywords in it. You will stand out more if you brand yourself.

3. Signing up with affiliate programs. They are usually free to join. But pick a product that is relevant to what your site is about.

I know if you were to try to make money with your website on your own it would be overwhelming for some. Especially if you are just starting out. If you are just starting out and looking for a place that you can learn how to make money online at your own pace I suggest you have a look at wealthy affilite. Wealthy affiliate is a community that helps each other in trying to make money online. I also want to mention that wealthy affiliate is free to join.

How Much Money Do I Need To Start With Affiliate Marketing

If you are just starting out with affiliate marketing chances are you don't have that much money to spend. If you don't have much money to spend you can use free methods. There are a lot of free methods like article marketing and video marketing but keep in mind that using free methods is going to take time. If you are realty on a budget you can visit a site like wealthy affiliate and start for free. But if you want your business to grow you are going to have t spend money.

On the other hand if you do have money to spend you can look at paid traffic sources like bing or adwords. With paid traffic though if you don't know what you are doing you can lose money quickly.

Like I said before if you don't have any money to start your online business I suggest you have a look at wealthy affiliate.

How To Build A Website To Sell Stuff

If you have a product or line of products that appeal to a specific consumer audience buying over the Internet, then e-commerce is for you. To develop the steps in creating an e-commerce website, we've interviewed an expert we respect, Andrew Schulkind of Andigo New Media. Here are his suggested steps to success

Who Is Your Market?

Take some time a really think about your audience. Who are they and why do they want to buy your product(s). Make a list of their demographics and psychographics, and create a benefit hierarchy which will show the most important reasons they buy to the least important. Are there different segments that have slightly difference characteristics or may behave differently? How do each of these individuals get information - where do they go to learn about products like yours? Are there other outlets (competitors) for these products? If so, what is your compelling competitive differentiator (why should they buy from you)?

What Do You Want Your Market to Do?

Of course, we want the audience to buy, but the buying process may not be instantaneous. Make it easy for them to find the information they want. Engage their interests and bring them to the logical conclusion: a purchase. And don't forget that many may be accessing your site from a mobile device. Increasingly this is BIG part of e-commerce and you must maximize the customer experience for the mobile buyer

Building the Site

Your site must have a way to display your goods and a way to process the transaction. You might want to consult or use a professional web designer. If you want to do it yourself, please think about using a service such as Shopify, which provides easy templates for website construction, secure hosting, a merchant account, and all the back-end processing. They charge a fee, but they take all the worries away.

Market the Site

Get the word out, consistently and with urgency. Your message should be where your audience goes for information, such as social media. Integrate the message about your e-commerce site with all your other marketing. Keep your site interesting and fresh with new content, such as a blog. You may not be able to exactly measure the contribution of this content, but it adds credibility, builds your brand and provides other ways that people may find your site. If someone buys, say thank you and repromote your products and competitive differentiation. If someone is interested, but doesn't buy right away, develop a program to nurture them, perhaps through email.

How to Build a Website From Scratch - Not As Hard As it Sounds!

You have decided you want to build a website, but it seems like a daunting task. There appears to be so much to learn and new terms to acquaint yourself with that you become overwhelmed by the task. However when the job is seen in its individual parts it then becomes apparent that there is nothing that can not be readily learned and put into practice

Building a website, as with building an online business, is a process and requires you to learn new skills. None of the necessary skills are very difficult and if you can send and receive emails and surf the internet it will not be that hard to learn some new skills.

Just approach the task with the correct mindset: believe strongly that you can do it and be persistent.

The Process of building a Website:-

Choose and purchase a Domain Name. In choosing a domain name it should if possible indicate the type of business or product which you wish to promote. Then go to a Registrar such as Godaddy.com to purchase your chosen name. On site you will be able to check if the name is in fact available to purchase; if not then try for variations of the name until you find one available. A domain name will cost approximately $10.

Hosting a Domain Name. All domain names require to be hosted. This may be obtained at the registrar where you bought your domain name or you can go to a separate hosting company such as Host Gator. Hosting will cost approximately $10 per year or there are some membership sites which provide hosting free with your membership.

Nameserver. This is a piece of code which links your Registrar with your Host Company and only requires action on your part if the Registrar is different from the Host Company.

Web Editor. Having acquired hosting for your domain name the next step is to get a Web editor. This is simply a software program which creates web pages. There are many web editors available on the internet and some cost a lot of money. However there are also web editors available at no cost. One web editor which is free is Kompozer and this does a very good job of creating web pages.

Creating Web Pages. The next step in the process is to begin creating the various pages which go to make up your website. The first one will be your Home Page or Index Page as the Web Editor will call it. Once the pages have been created the next step is to publish them. This is simply sending them to the correct directory on your host company site. There are a number of details to learn in order to format and introduce color to your web pages, but none of them are difficult when you understand what is required.

How to Build a Website To Make Money

If you plan to build a website to make money, there are a number of factors you should consider so that you maximize the effectiveness of your marketing effort. Believe me, as an internet marketer, there is nothing so disheartening as putting your precious time and hard effort into building a website, only for it to result in zero sales for you. That's a pretty poor return on investment right?

Building a website is now a lot easier than it used to be, thanks to website building resources such as Squidoo, Weebly, blogger etc. Not only do those sites allow you to build the website, they host it for you too. Nice job! Additionally, those sites are also highly favorable in the search engines algorithms so they tend to rank well in the SERPS (search engine results pages). A high search ranking will only help benefit your website because more site visitors = more sales. Simple.

So let's get down to the crunch....How to build a website to make money? Well, you have a number of options of how to monetize your website. These include:

1.AdSense (You place Google Ads on your site and get paid when your site visitors click them)
2.Affiliate Marketing (Sell other people's products and earn commissions)
3.Banner Ads (People pay you to put their adverts on your site)

Before you learn how to build a website to make money, you need to decide how the site will be monetized. Here I am going to tell you about one of the monetization methods above, affiliate marketing. This is because this is my field of knowledge and preferred option to making money online.

You can make money online by using affiliate links on your site; these are special links you can use to promote and sell other people's products. You get a commission for each sale that is made resulting from your marketing efforts (often up to 75%). So for example, if you promote a guide on how to stop your dog chewing, which sells for $40, you could receive up to $30 in commission for each sale you make. Make 2 sales per day, 7 days per week and your website could be earning you a tidy $420 a week ($30 x 2 x 7), and this would be passive income. Once you've set up your website, it will generate money for you on auto-pilot. Imagine what difference $420 per week extra would make to your life right now?

How to Get Traffic For Your Website For Free - 5 Essential Steps

There is absolutely no point of having a website if you don't get any traffic to it. Also you don't want to spend a fortune to get people to visit your website either. So I'm going to tell you the easiest way how to get traffic to your website for free in 5 steps.

Step 1

First step on how to get traffic to your website for free is to find long tail keywords which are at least 3 to 4 words long that are relevant to the content on your website. And to help you find these keywords use Google's free keyword tool. To find it type "keyword tool" in the Google search engine and click on the top natural listed result. Once you have found some long tail keywords enter them in Google with "quotes" around them. Eg "This is where the keyword goes". Google will then tell you how many search results there are for the keyword, and what you want is to have the results under 5000.

Step 2

Now with the keywords you are going to write articles that are about 300 to 500 words in length. Pick one of the keywords and include it in the title of your article, and then spread the exact same keyword a few more times throughout the article. The keyword should appear between 1-3% within the article.

Step 3

I still haven't exactly told you how to get traffic to your website for free yet, but I hope these next couple of steps help to explain it. It used to be that you would submit articles to article directories like goarticles and ezinearticles.com but that does not work anymore. Google does not value article directories anymore.

Step 4

So why did we find long tail keywords with results under 5000 when quoted and put them in the articles? The reason is because we are trying to get the articles that you have written to the top on the Google search results under those specific keywords and if your on top you will get loads of free traffic. It should take about a week for Google to identify your article and sometimes you will land on the first page, but not always.

Step 5
Just keep on repeating the process and don't worry about checking to see if your article makes it the front page each day. The way how to get traffic to your website for free has its price not in money but in time. Try to write and submit a new article everyday and soon enough the traffic will flow.

I hope these 5 steps on how to get traffic to your website for free have helped you and don't worry if it didn't work the first time you tried, it takes a bit of practice as well to be able to find the right keywords and to write effective articles. Just don't stop writing and you will know how to get traffic to your website for free in no time.
